Yakima, WA (Wednesday, December 18, 2019) Astria Health orthopedic surgeon Alan Greenwald, MD, was elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Councilors for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in the most recent meeting held in Nashville, Tennessee.
The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) is a trusted group of leaders in advancing and providing the highest quality musculoskeletal health care, nationwide. The academy strives to keep pace with the rapidly-changing health care industry and system by continuing medical educational activities, equipping members to thrive in value-based environments, and over-all advances the quality of orthopedic care including providing high-quality orthopedic care to US populations.
As the past president of the Washington State Orthopedic Association, current president of the Yakima County Medical Association, and previously-elected member in the AAOS Board of Councilors, Dr. Alan Greenwald was recently elected to represent the Board of Councilor’s Executive Committee for the AAOS. Board of Councilors serve as an advisory body for the AAOS leadership. They advise the executives and elected leaders of the AAOS with policy and legislative agenda issues, ensuring that all citizens have access to evidence-based orthopedic care in the country. As councilors, their job is to inform the national leadership of issues related to regional orthopedic practice and communicate back to the state members when there are issues of national importance.
