Astria Health is pleased to welcome Irma Villalvazo, FNP, to its team of Primary Care Providers. Ms. Villalvazo will be providing family medicine to patients of all ages, children through adult, at Astria Health Center, 803 E Lincoln Ave, in Sunnyside beginning mid-April.
“I’m dedicated to caring for the people in my community,” Ms. Villalvazo said. “I grew up in Sunnyside. I have worked with pregnant women and helped deliver their babies, and I have worked with long-term care patients. I’m looking forward to serving patients and their families and helping them receive the high-quality care that they deserve.”
Ms. Villalvazo is not new to Sunnyside or Astria Health. Since 2016, she has been a Labor and Delivery Nurse in the Astria Sunnyside Hospital Family Birth Center. For more than ten years, she supported women physically and emotionally as they gave birth, provided breastfeeding instruction, as well as postpartum care for mother and baby. Prior to that, she worked in long-term care and rehabilitation at Prestige Care in Sunnyside.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Villalvazo will deliver individualized patient care, specifically catered to the needs and conditions of each individual she sees. She has extensive clinical training and experience to prevent, diagnose and treat common health problems, and serious chronic and complex illnesses. She is looking forward to working alongside each of her patients to teach disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits.
Ms. Villalvazo completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree through Purdue Global University. She earned her Bachelor of Nursing at Western Governors University. She is a graduate of Sunnyside High School and has spent her career caring for people in the community.
