Percutaneous Cryoablation (CRYOtherapy):

In addition, Astria Health offers an innovative approach to treating cancerous tumors with Percutaneous Cryoablation or CRYOtherapy. CRYOtherapy is a minimally invasive image-guided treatment that destroys (ablates) tumors and other targeted tissue with extreme cold, while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. This new treatment avoids the need for invasive surgery and is a naturally more comfortable and convenient alternative to heat-based ablation methods of surgery. Typically, patients spend only one night in the hospital or may even go home the same day.

There are many advantages to its use including:

  • Less procedural pain versus radiofrequency ablation
  • No destruction of collagen
  • Minimal to little recovery time
  • Offers an important alternative for poor surgical candidates
  • Provides palliative treatment for thoracic tumors
  • Can be performed in an outpatient setting for greater patient convenience
